Manholes for an Expanding RV Park
Project Details
About the Project
Less than 100 yards from sandy beaches and the calming Pacific Ocean, Naval Base Ventura County’s Point Mugu RV Park was expanding to create an even better place for sailors and their families to relax and recharge while on leave.
New RV spaces and added amenities, including upgraded shower facilities and a laundry room, meant the site’s sanitary sewer infrastructure needed to grow right alongside it.
Jensen Infrastructure provided precast concrete manholes for the expansion, helping support the underground sewer system modern comforts depend on.
Manhole Bases Made to Order
With more RV spaces, showers, and laundry facilities being added, the expanded sewer system needed structures capable of reliably handling increased wastewater flow over the long term.
With precast manhole bases, channel configurations are commonly customized to match site layout and flow requirements. For the Point Mugu project, each base featured a different channel design tailored to the system configuration and customer preferences.
Also, in sanitary sewer systems, smooth flow paths are critical. Poorly formed or inconsistent channels can create snag points where debris collects, eventually leading to maintenance issues.
By manufacturing the bases in a controlled environment, precast construction delivers consistent quality and precision that can be difficult to achieve with traditional cast-in-place methods.
Supporting Those Who Serve
Jensen Infrastructure provided three manhole assemblies for the picturesque project.
The structures included 60-inch diameter precast concrete manhole bases and eccentric cones for each manhole. Each base featured custom channeling designed around the project’s specific flow requirements and site layout.
Manufactured in a controlled environment, the smooth precast channels help wastewater move efficiently through the system while reducing the imperfections commonly associated with cast-in-place construction, where debris and toilet paper can snag over time.
The use of precast components also helped streamline installation for the RV park’s expanding sewer infrastructure, supporting an upgraded destination where America’s sailors, veterans, and their families can enjoy the comfort and relaxation they’ve earned.
